When Picasso Met Mamma

Acrylic and paper on Canvas, 26 x 34”, 2017

As always, I started with no idea in mind. When I put the wash over the entire canvas, I liked the color & didn’t want to cover it. At the same time I was exploring acrylic pens and washes. The title came to me because one of the figures reminded me of Picasso.

At first I was just going to do some paint scribbles in the middle, but then got into the “meaning” of the piece. Thinking literally I tried fertility images, classical painting images of growth, etc. All very silly. Reason prevailed and I brushed in a circle, decided that was enough.
